Loch Ness
LOCH NESS is a fast-paced, colourful, entertaining action novel which centers around Ed Shaw and a select team of scientists, sent to the Scottish Highlands to uncover the truth about one of the world’s greatest and most-intriguing mysteries.
Using the latest in deep-sea exploration technology and technique, the team set about exploring the great depths of this mysterious body of water.
In their search for the truth, they must face not only the harsh elements and mystique of the lake, but also the strain on their own delicate relationships, immeasurable depths and the knowledge that one of them is on a strange mission of his own.
Ed Shaw struggles against nature and against himself to keep the unit together. Battling against the unknown beneath the surface, and a forgettable past experience above the surface, Ed must somehow unite the strengths of each of his colleagues to converge on a common goal.
Their lives depend on it.
Most people in the Western world are familiar with the mystery that surrounds Loch Ness. It has never been conclusively proven that something does, or does not exist, in the murky Highland waters.
On October 19th, 1999, an American research company - Quadrant Research - green-lit an expedition to once, and for all, uncover the Loch Ness riddle.
A team of six scientists were assembled - the best in their respective fields - and were sent on a fact-finding expedition with resources previously unavailable.
This is their story - and what they uncovered will shock you.
Synopsis
The large American research company, ‘Quadrant Research Limited’, is responsible for the discovery of many historical artefacts like chariots at the bottom of the biblical Red Sea, the exact position of Noah’s ark (kept secret only by fanatical Middle-Eastern politicians), the lost city of Atlantis, and the wreck of the lost liner, Titanic.
Quadrant is also responsible for debunking myths and legends. Most recently, they sent a team of scientists to Amsterdam to expose a UFO hoax. When the English government commissioned Quadrant to explain a high level of a dangerous chemical polluting the water at Loch Ness, Quadrant saw it as an opportunity to uncover more than just chemicals in the water.
Ed and his team arrive at the edge of Loch Ness to begin a two week expedition to explore the murky depths and unearth the truth about Nessitera Rhombopteryx — the so-called Loch Ness Monster.
The team travels to the tiny town of Lochend, where a meeting with the Mayor uncovers that all is not as it should be. It is true that high levels of a dangerous chemical are draining into the loch from local farming communities, but there is something more sinister at hand.
Ed and his team discover the drive behind the Loch Ness tourism machine and debunk the monster myth as nothing more than a political money maker.
Then the man behind the scheme disappears.
The Quadrant team head out onto the lake and discover more than they could have imagined.
Through the battles against the elements, Ed must pull the team together to escape with their lives.
Furthermore, Ed must deal with an unexpected visitor — his ex-wife, who he hasn’t seen for twenty years.
As the drama unfolds, it is clear Loch Ness is more than just a tourist attraction, and Ed’s team must discover the truth about Nessitera Rhombopteryx in order to save the life of one of their own.
